Description

A delightful latte made with browned butter, pure maple syrup, and espresso, topped with steamed milk and a pinch of cinnamon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 double shot espresso or 1/3 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 3/4 cup milk (whole, oat, or almond)
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and continue to cook until browned and fragrant (about 3–5 minutes). Remove from heat immediately.
  2. Brew your espresso or strong coffee while the butter is browning.
  3. Heat the milk until steaming (not boiling), then froth using a milk frother, French press, or whisk.
  4. In a mug, combine the browned butter and maple syrup. Add espresso and stir well.
  5. Pour in the steamed milk, holding back foam with a spoon, then top with foam.
  6. Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon or a drizzle of maple syrup if desired.

Notes

  • This recipe is a great way to enjoy espresso with a rich, nutty flavor from the browned butter.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup to taste.
