Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and red food coloring.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting made by mixing softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
